The Power Of Faith And Story

I am a Celtic woman. And I reclaim my heritage because I think what we desperately need back is a tribe. Not a nation, a tribe. Nations are defined by borders; tribes are defined by connection over the same cause, the same belief system, the same faith, the same greater myth of life they believe in.

We feel lost because we were cut off from our stories. Christianity is not our religion. Paganism is. Let's reclaim our myths, not in a nationalistic way, but in a faithful way.

If humans want direction in life, they need to have faith. Faith in a bigger picture. They need to hear the stories of those who came before them, and they need to tell these stories to those who come after them.

My book "Being Human - A Travel Guide" is a memory, a story kept in my DNA, to one day re-emerge. In words that suit the modern world and its beings.

Celtic Heritage

Swiss National Day is celebrated on August 1. This is also the date of an important Celtic festival, Lugh or Lughnasad.

Lughnasad goes back to the god Lugus. Lugus comes from the root word lug- – from Wikipedia:

“A derivation from the Indo-European root leugʰ- / lugʰ- (”oath, swear“) is just as possible as an interpretation as ”bright, radiant“ based on the Welsh lleu (”light,“ compare ancient Greek λευκός- ”bright, clear, white“).”

The national holiday is celebrated at the beginning of August because the most famous federal charter, from 1291, was signed then.

From a Celtic perspective, it makes a lot of sense to sign a treaty on the day that is under the jurisdiction of the god of oaths and swearing.
